About Myrtillocactus Geometrizans (Blue Candle Cactus)
Native to central and northern Mexico, Myrtillocactus geometrizans is a striking columnar cactus prized for its blue-grey skin and elegant branching habit. In the wild, it grows into a tree-like form reaching up to 4–5 metres, with multiple arms branching from a central trunk – earning it the common name “Blue Candle.”
The cactus produces small edible purple berries known as “garambullo” in Mexico, considered a local delicacy. It’s a fast grower in warm conditions, drought-tolerant, and makes an excellent specimen plant for gardens, large pots, or xeriscaping.
